It’s May!! And that means it’s time for our next Member of the Month! Aaron joined the gym in January and hasn’t looked back. He crushed his way through Foundations, then The Open, and now there is no stopping him! Learn all there is to know about Aaron below!
What made you come walking through the doors at CFWS? I chose CFWS because the amount of experience the coaches was higher than elsewhere and the pricing was more competitive. From what I read inexperienced coaches frequently lead to injuries.
How long have you been a member? I have been a member since the end of January
What’s special about CFWS? And what keeps you coming in day after day? The coaches and people are what’s special about CFWS; I can’t put it into just one word though. They are incredible athletes with so much to teach but humble and down to earth. Everyone supports my efforts and cheers me on no matter how much I am scaling. Somehow they are empowering, pushing me out of my comfort zone without judging or making me feel unsafe; quite the balancing act.
Also the progress I am making is totally awesome. I feel stronger and healthier and I can perform lifts that I never thought I could.
When you show up for the daily WOD, your fingers are crossed that it will include? The variety, surprise of the day, is what I look forward too most. I love the variety of movements, combinations, and intensity.
Won’t include? I still dread any overhead barbell lifts. My shoulder flexibility is a weak link, one that I can’t muscle my way through. But this is also where I am making the most progress so I am really excited by them too.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? As a kid I wanted to be an Indian and a cowboy, which is doesn’t make for any great career choices.
If you can have any super power, what would it be? Teleporting would be my superpower, to be able to travel the world, in and out of banks and restaurants on a whim would be incredible.
A place in the world you want to travel to? I want to travel all over. Norway, Thailand, Chile, New York, and the Alps are the first to pop up in my mind.
A fun fact most at the gym don’t know about you? Most people don’t know my oldest daughter is in college and that I moved here 4 years ago from Colorado.
Your favorite West Seattle spot we should all try? There is this awesome little hole-in-the-wall CrossFit gym right by the Met! I am still learning all the awesome places in West Seattle myself
Advice you would give to a new member just starting their CrossFit journey? New members should be patient. The weight, the movement, the endurance, and the camaraderie all takes time to build. Make good choices.
